Brown's River

Bangkok, Thailand

Brown’s River is a riverside family restaurant offering stunning views of the Bhumibol 1 Bridge, especially striking at sunset. The building is constructed atop the remains of a former residential structure, creatively adapting the existing underground foundation.

The space is divided into two distinct zones through the use of color and materiality. The kitchen and product display area are clad in a warm, sand-toned brown plaster, forming a tall, monolithic volume that symbolizes the heart of the restaurant—an homage to the owner's deep passion for cooking, who also serves as the chef. In contrast, the dining area is expressed in clean white tones and wrapped in frameless glass panels beneath a slender steel roof. This light, transparent structure not only counterbalances the solidity of the brown volume but also frames unobstructed views of the riverscape, enhancing the guest experience during twilight hours.

Together, the two halves create a harmonious dialogue between grounded warmth and airy openness, thoughtfully reflecting both the culinary focus and the serene riverside setting.
